Since 2001, the Colorado State Forest Service has published an annual Forest Health Report with excellent descriptions and discussions about the changes in the health of Colorado’s forests.

Since 1996, mountain pine beetles have affected 3.4 million acres of Colorado forests, and spruce bark beetles have affected 1.7 million acres of Colorado forests.
